In a letter addressed to the Hon’ble Minister of Education, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, and the Chairman of the University Grants Commission (UGC), Shri M. Jagadesh Kumar, Dr. Kathiria has appealed for the establishment of a ‘Kamdhenu Chair’ or ‘Kamdhenu Peeth’ in all universities and colleges across the country. This initiative aligns with the National Education Policy 2020, the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and the values of Indian culture and constitutional principles. Dr. Kathiria has appreciated the recent circular issued by the UGC encouraging the establishment of Animal Welfare Committees in higher education institutions. He stated that this step would not only instill compassion, sensitivity, and moral values among students but also significantly contribute to the promotion of Indian traditions, culture, and sustainable development. Dr. Kathiria has presented the concept of the Kamdhenu Chair as a comprehensive academic and employment-oriented initiative. Its aim is to raise awareness among students and rural communities about the scientif ic, agricultural, environmental, economic, and spiritual importance of indigenous cow breeds. He emphasized that the Kamdhenu Chair could become a powerful foundation for nation al missions like ‘Make in India’ and ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ by supporting health, cow-based natural farming, Panchgavya, cow-based industries, women empowerment, poverty eradication, and environmental balance. He further urged that the Kamdhenu Chair be implemented with the support of the government, UGC, ICAR, and other relevant institutions. The initiative should promote education, research, training, and outreach activities in rural areas. Each university or college could appoint a qualified expert as a ‘Kamdhenu Chair Professor,’ who would provide guidance in the areas of research, innovation, and startups. Dr. Kathiria has requested the government to formulate a dedicated policy in this regard, to protect India’s ancient cow heritage and biodiversity while simultaneously generating new opportunities for development and youth empowerment.

Dr. Vallabhbhai Kathiria, President of the Global Confederation of Cow-Based Industry (GCCI), former Union Minister, and former Chairman of the National Kamdhenu Commission, has submitted a significant proposal to the Government of India.
