GCCI Appeals to Celebrate February 14 as “Cow Hug Day” to Express Love and Compassion Towards Cows and Promote Awareness on Cow Protection

The Global Confederation of Cow-Centric Institutions (GCCI) has urged Indian cow shelters (Gaushalas), cow devotees, and spiritual organizations to celebrate February 14, 2025, as “Cow Hug Day.” This initiative aims to express love and compassion towards cows, strengthen cow protection efforts, and promote a cow-based economy. It will also highlight the role of cows in Indian culture, spirituality, and sustainable development. Dr. Vallabhbhai Kathiria, the founder of GCCI, explained why “Cow Hug Day” should be observed, stating that it is essential for people to reconnect with the importance of cows in modern life. Scientific research has also recognized that hugging a cow can reduce stress, generate positive energy, and provide mental peace. Additionally, this occasion will serve as a great opportunity to raise awareness about Gaushalas and cow-based industries. Dr. Kathiria further elaborated on how “Cow Hug Day” can be celebrated, encouraging Gaushalas to organize special programs such as Gau Pujan (cow worship), Bhajan Sandhya (spiritual musical events), and cow service activities. He also emphasized the role of social media in spreading awareness about cow service and promoting cow-based products made from Panchagavya, cow dung, and cow urine to ensure better market access. GCCI calls upon all cow devotees, students, farmers, and the general public to become part of this movement by spending time with cows, either individually or collectively, and celebrating “Cow Hug Day 2025” with a spirit of service towards cows.
