FIFA 2030: A stage for Sports, Not a SLAUGHTERHOUSE
Ahmedabad, January 24, 2025:
Children from Tapovan Sanskarpeeth, inspired by the staunch nationalist, culture enthusiast, and revolutionary Jain saint Chandrashekhar Vijayji Maharaj, staged a heartfelt protest against the dog cull in Morocco. Simultaneously, Himanshu Shah, Managing Trustee of Tapovan Youth Alumni Group (TYAG), has taken this issue to the global stage through international appeals.
Children’s Plea:

On January 23, 2025, children at Tapovan Sanskarpeeth organized an unprecedented and emotional protest against the dog cull in Morocco. With banners in their hands and compassion in their hearts, the children appealed to the Moroccan government to cancel its plan to cull 3 million stray dogs before FIFA 2030. Through songs, poems, plays, and speeches, the children expressed their feelings and demonstrated their empathy towards dogs.
The children created banners and posters with slogans like “Save the Dogs,” “Stop the Killing,” and “Morocco Shame.” Some children even wore special costumes. Their emotional speeches, songs, poems, and dramatic performances made everyone aware of the atrocities taking place in Morocco. The entire atmosphere reverberated with slogans like “Save the Dogs,” “Stop the Killing,” and “Morocco Shame.”
As a result, a large number of people became aware of the issue. Many people also expressed their support for this protest on social media. People were urged to express their feelings through emails, tweets, and social media posts.
Youth’s International Appeal:
To further strengthen the children’s efforts, Shri Himanshu Shah wrote to the Moroccan Ambassador and the FIFA Chairman, requesting immediate action on the matter.
In the letter to the Moroccan Ambassador, Shri Shah, referring to the deep relations between Morocco and India, requested the Moroccan government to come forward for animal welfare. He expressed concern about the plan to cull 3 million stray dogs and cats in Morocco and raised issues such as an immediate ban on the killing of dogs and cats, and the creation of safe shelters for stray animals during the 2030 FIFA World Cup.
In a letter to the FIFA Chairman, Shri Shah also requested action to be taken for animal welfare in Morocco.

In both letters, Shri Shah referred to Indian culture and values, emphasizing the principles of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” and “Live and Let Live.” He urged Morocco to follow these principles and work for animal welfare.
Addressing the Moroccan authorities, he said, “Imagine a tiny puppy watching its mother being killed; how heartbreaking would the sight of 3 million speechless creatures be! Such incidents not only cause pain but can also lead to epidemics and diseases. Let’s end this violence and embrace compassion. Through scientific and humane methods, we can ensure the welfare of innocent animals and create a safe and kind world for them.”
These two incidents show how sensitive children and youth are to animal welfare and how they are not hesitant to raise their voices. It is hoped that these efforts will bear fruit and the Moroccan government will change its decision regarding the dog cull.
