The Yatra is reviving cow culture in villages, fostering dialogues with youth and saints, and igniting the spirit of national unity and pride – Mital Khetani

The “Gau Rashtra Yatra” is a historic, spiritual, and national-level cultural journey aimed at reviving India’s ancient cow-centric culture, protecting and promoting Gau Mata, and revitalizing a rural economy based on Panchgavya (five products from the cow). The journey began on 15th June 2025 from the holy city of Rishikesh (Uttarakhand) and will conclude at Rameswaram (Tamil Nadu).

This 61-day Yatra spans around 20,000 kilometers and passes through more than 12 Indian states. It highlights the values of rural self-reliance, natural cow-based farming, cow-centric industries, and the philosophy of village self-governance. The Yatra has now reached Rajkot, the heart of Gujarat, where it has received a grand welcome from the public, cow devotees, saints, farmers, and entrepreneurs.

The Yatra was flagged off from Rishikesh by Yogiraj Ashutoshji Maharaj, Yuvraj Sant Gopalacharya, Swami Keshav Swaroop Brahmachari, Mahant Ravi Prapannacharya, Mahant Karunasharan Maharaj, Mahant Alok Hari Maharaj, Mahant Kapilmuni Maharaj, Mahant Rajendra Dasji Maharaj, and other office bearers of the All India Sant Committee.

The Yatra has already passed through Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, and Rajasthan, and is now in Gujarat. It will continue through Maharashtra, Goa, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Kerala.

The “Gau Rashtra Yatra” is being led by Bharat Singh Rajpurohit(President, AWARI – Animal Welfare and Agricultural Research Institute), Narendra Kumar (Founder, Hind Rise Cow Conservation Ashram and Rashtriya Gausevak Sangh), and Rohit Bisht (Founder, Maati India). Key collaborator Harshadbhai Guguliya (Founder, Kamdhenu Gauvéd) and his team are actively supporting the movement.

Bharat Singh Rajpurohit, while explaining the purpose of the Yatra, stated that in today’s race toward modernity, we are drifting away from the core Indian cultural value of cow service. The cow is not merely a matter of religious faith but a symbol of economic, environmental, and social prosperity for rural India. Farmers’ crises, unemployment, water scarcity, and cultural decay all trace back to society’s neglect of the cow. The Yatra is a bold step to awaken this lost consciousness.

During the Yatra, various cow camps, seminars, discussions, and awareness programs will be conducted with participation from scientists, farmers, yoga gurus, environmentalists, and scholars. Devotees involved in the Yatra will pledge to adopt a clean, cow-based lifestyle.

This grand journey aims to spark a new era of cow protection, cow promotion, and Panchgavya-based rural economy across the nation. Ancient scriptures like the Vedas, Upanishads, and Puranas, as well as modern scientific research, have proven that the cow is a priceless gift to humanity. Panchgavya (cow urine, dung, milk, curd, and ghee) is known to provide effective treatments for many diseases. Thus, the Gopanth tradition represents a scientific culture, not merely a religious one.

Speaking about AWARI, Rajpurohitji shared that it is an institute dedicated to research in human, animal, and agricultural sciences, committed to the conservation of indigenous cattle breeds, promotion of organic farming, and strengthening of the rural economy. The “Gau Rashtra Yatra” is a monumental initiative by AWARI to connect with national consciousness. Several significant resolutions and decisions were taken during this Yatra through deep intellectual deliberation.

It is also proposed that national-level cow exhibitions be organized across Indian cities and districts to honor the finest bulls and cows based on breed purity and quality—encouraging cattle rearers with rewards and recognition.

Rajpurohitji further stated that the goal of this Yatra is not just cow service, but the restoration of dignity and self-reliance for farmers and cattle rearers. The aim is to make cow-rearing a respectable and economically viable field. This journey is not just physical but a cultural mission that spiritually unites the nation through Gau Mata.

Former Union Minister and Ex-Chairman of Rashtriya Kamdhenu Aayog, Founder of GCCI, Dr. Vallabhbhai Kathiria, emphasized that Gau Mata is the pillar of India’s agriculture, health, environment, and economy. It is crucial that the nation adopts a cow-based lifestyle to break free from chemical-intensive agriculture and artificial habits. The Gau Rashtra Yatra is not a religious pilgrimage but a practical reflection of the “Gramodaya to Bharatodaya” vision—a committed journey toward rebuilding India’s core systems around the cow.

Mittal Khetani, General Secretary of GCCI, shared that cow worship, saint discourses, youth dialogue, cultural programs, and community consultations are being conducted at every stop of the Yatra to highlight cow culture and discuss rural issues. The Yatra has united thousands of villages and lakhs of citizens in the mission of restoring the dignity and divinity of Gau Mata, strengthening the spirit of nationalism.

A press conference was organized to share details about the Yatra, coordinated by Arunbhai Nirmal. Media personnel were welcomed by Mital Khetani, and the details were shared by Bharat Singh Rajpurohit and Dr. Vallabhbhai Kathiria. The Rajkot leg of the Yatra was organized with the support of Vijaybhai Dobariya, Dilipbhai Sakhiya, Rameshbhai Ghetia, Gaurangbhai Thakkar, Parsabhai Mehta, Veerabhai Humbal, Rameshbhai Thakkar, Dhirendra Kanabar, Pratik Sanghani, Chandreshbhai Patel, Vinodbhai Kachadiya, Hiren Hapaliya, Kantibhai Bhut, Navneetbhai Agrawal, Prakashbhai Solanki, Kishorbhai Vora, Bharatbhai Bhuva, and many other social leaders and cow protectors.
