Celebrate the sacred and holy festival of Ganesh Chaturthi witheco-friendly Ganesh idols made from cow dung (Gomaya).

Dr. Vallabhbhai Kathiriya, founder of G.C.C.I, former Minister of the Government of India, and former Chairman of the Rashtriya Kamdhenu Aayog, initiated a nationwide campaign to promote eco-friendly Ganesh idols made from cow dung. Accepting the call of Honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, G.C.C.I has requested the public to support the installation and worship of Ganesh idols made from Gomaya (cow dung) as part of a campaign. In line with the Prime Minister’s ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ (Self-Reliant India) and ‘Make in India’ initiatives, G.C.C.I appeals to all cowsheds, youth and women entrepreneurs, women self-help groups, social and religious organizations, and cow protection workers across the country to come forward and make Ganesh idols of various sizes from indigenous Indian cow dung and join this campaign. G.C.C.I is continuously working to promote and develop cow-based industries and products.
As the sacred festival of Ganesh Chaturthi approaches, G.C.C.I urges everyone to celebrate this year by purchasing and installing eco-friendly Gomaya Ganesh idols — that is, Ganesh idols made from the pure dung of indigenous Indian cows — for the auspicious occasion.
For centuries, Indian tradition and Ayurveda have recognized the dung of indigenous Indian cows as a purifier of both the body and the environment. Naturally endowed with antiseptic and antifungal properties, it purifies the atmosphere, energizes it, and promotes health. Hindu scriptures describe Mother Cow (Gau Mata) as the giver of life and welfare, whose products are blessings for humanity. Ganesh idols made from Gomaya are not just representations of the deity but living symbols of purity, prosperity, and environmental protection. At the time of immersion, these idols completely dissolve in water without leaving any toxic residue. Compared to idols made from Plaster of Paris (PoP) and chemical paints, Gomaya Ganesh idols neither harm aquatic life nor pollute rivers and ponds. On the contrary, they act as natural fertilizer, nourishing plants and revitalizing the soil. Thus, bidding farewell to Lord Ganesh becomes a sacred pledge to return to the Earth.
The production of these idols also brings socio-economic benefits. By adopting Gomaya Ganesh idols, devotees directly support cowsheds financially, encourage the use of cow-based products, and strengthen projects like cow protection and cow conservation. Rural artisans, women self-help groups, and farmers gain employment, which strengthens the rural economy and reduces dependence on foreign and synthetic materials.
Spiritually, the presence of a Gomaya Ganesh idol in the home during the festival brings blessings from both Lord Ganesh and Mother Cow. The natural medicinal plants mixed with the dung emit a pure fragrance that creates a sattvic atmosphere, enhancing meditation, positivity, and harmony within the household.
This Ganesh Chaturthi, by bringing Gomaya Ganesh into our homes, we do not just worship the remover of obstacles but also honor the elements of life — water, soil, and all living creation. Through this single act, we protect the Earth, preserve our traditions, and strengthen the sacred bond between humans and cows.
G.C.C.I invites individuals, families, societies, educational institutions, and Ganesh mandals to join this eco-friendly celebration. Along with the chant “Ganpati Bappa Morya,” let us also make a pledge to protect rivers, honor Mother Cow, and live in harmony with nature.
