Save Culture Save Bharat Foundation Applauds Government’s Decisive Action, Thanks Supreme Court and Fellow Activists, and Calls for Systemic Reforms to Dismantle the Digital Obscenity Mafia
The Government of India has struck a major blow against perverted apps that had become breeding centers for rapists and were teaching how to dishonor our sisters and daughters. This content was awakening demonic tendencies even in good people and was destroying society mentally, physically, and financially. This much-needed ‘Digital Surgical Strike’ has been wholeheartedly welcomed by the Save Culture Save Bharat Foundation, led by distinguished former Central Information Commissioner Mr. Uday Mahurkar. Praising the government’s decisive action, the foundation stated that this move will instill the fear of severe punishment among those who indecently represent women, ensuring that no one dares to do so in the future. This was a nationwide outcry against the digital epidemic of obscene and perverted content. The gravity of the issue was also highlighted by RSS Sarsanghchalak, Shri Mohan Bhagwat ji, during his annual Dussehra speech, a sentiment echoed by numerous spiritual and social leaders across the country. The foundation also extends its deepest gratitude to the Honourable Supreme Court of India for taking serious cognizance of this matter. This victory is a testament to a cause tirelessly championed on the ground by advocates like Shri Vishnu Shankar Jain, and dedicated organizations such as Gems of Bollywood, Hindu Janjagruti Samiti, Yuva Jagran Manch, and many others whose persistent efforts have been instrumental in bringing this issue to the national forefront. Mr. Mahurkar, who has taken this up as a national mission, stated, “We congratulate the Government of India for its courageous first step in this dharma-yuddha (righteous war) to protect the soul of our nation. This ban is a victory for every Indian family. However, this is only the first battle. The digital obscenity mafia is deeply entrenched and will find new ways to spread its poison.” He added, “To win this war, we urge the government to build on this momentum and immediately implement a comprehensive 6-Point Action Plan. A one-time ban is not enough; we need systemic legal and technological reforms to permanently safeguard our cultural values and make Digital India a truly Sanskari (value-based) and safe space for our children.” Proposed 6-Point Action Plan for a Comprehensive Solution: 1. Strengthen The Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act, 1986: Amend the law to include all digital content and introduce a provision for a minimum of 10 years of rigorous imprisonment to create real deterrence, with at least 3 of those years being non-bailable. 2. Enforce a COMMON PROGRAMME CODE: Establish a single, legally binding ‘Common Programme Code’ for all platforms (TV, OTT, Social Media), similar to RULE 6 – PROGRAMME CODE for television, to ban perverted and incestuous themes. 3. Form the ‘National Content Control Authority’: Create an autonomous, fast-acting regulatory body with the power to issue content takedown orders within 3 hours. 4. Launch ‘Operation Digital Surgical Strike’: Establish a permanent central task force to proactively and continuously scan and block harmful content. 5. Mandatory Certification Before Monetization: Eliminate the financial incentive for obscenity by making it illegal to monetize any content without pre-certification. 6. Repeal or Reform ‘Safe Harbour’ (Section 79, IT Act): Hold platforms legally and criminally accountable for the content they promote and profit from.
